Här kommer ett uttdrag av en undervisning som handlar om Ledarskap och Motivation. Utgiven av ICLM - Institute for Creativity Leadership and Management.

WHAT DO I DO AS A LEADER THAT KILLS MOTIVATION?
1. Do I go from ditch to ditch too often?
Change is a powerful tool for the leader to use, but if we change to often in vision, values, strategies etc, people will lose motivation. Once again, stay on your course. Do what you do with all your heart. Be goal oriented.

2. Do I keep promises?
Am I on time? Do I keep deadlines? Many times it is not about the big things, but the small ones. If you promise salary to a team member, keep your promise. If we don’t keep promises we lose motivation.

3. Do I delegate?
If you delegate, you delegate. Too often delegation is; you do the work and I look over your shoulder and observe you! That will destroy any motivation. Delegation is sometimes to take a risk, but let people feel that they have freedom to work.

4. Do I give clear instructions?
Bad instructions cause confusion and takes energy. Too often we have to do it all over again because we were not clear enough. That takes motivation away. Give people clear job descriptions. Make sure they have understood you and vice versa.

5. Do I give information?
“Do you always keep your people fully informed about what is going on – or do they sometimes find that decisions about things that affect them have been made on their behalf? If so, they will not have their need for self – esteem met, and may become demotivated”
(John Allan: ”Motivating People”, Kogan page, The Industrial Society, p. 48).

If you focus on how to be a good motivational leader, having committed people around, you will notbe a big problem. They will come because you create an atmosphere where people can develop and grow.
